  • About The Role

  • We are seeking a hands-on PLC / Control Electrical Engineer to support the automation, electrical maintenance, and reliability of a busy concrete manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving PLC-controlled equipment, driving continuous improvement projects, reducing downtime, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. This role combines control systems expertise with practical electrical engineering and maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment.


    About the Role

    • Program, troubleshoot, and optimise PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
    • Diagnose and repair electrical, instrumentation, and control system faults.
    • Support preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities.
    • Maintain and improve batching, mixing, conveying, and material handling equipment.
    • Lead automation upgrades, retrofits, migrations, and equipment integration projects.
    • Analyse plant performance data to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
    • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
    • Support emergency breakdown response and critical plant repairs.
    • Maintain accurate technical documentation, electrical drawings, and maintenance records.
    • Train and mentor maintenance personnel on automation and electrical systems.
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards, LOTO procedures, and electrical regulations.
    • Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to support operational objectives.

    What We're Looking For

    • Experienced PLC / Controls Engineer or Electrical Engineer from a manufacturing or industrial environment.
    • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding, ideally with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens systems.
    • Experience with HMI and SCADA platforms.
    • Proven electrical maintenance experience involving motors, VFDs, MCCs, sensors, load cells, and control panels.
    • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience delivering automation and control system improvement projects.
    • Understanding of reliability engineering, preventative maintenance, and root cause analysis.
    • Ability to read and update electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to support and develop maintenance teams.
    • Experience within concrete, cement, aggregates, quarrying, or other heavy manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
