About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Days maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and committed to maintaining high equipment uptime and electrical safety standards. While experience in heavy manufacturing is advantageous, it is not essential for the right candidate with strong electrical competence and a continuous improvement mindset.
About Your Role
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on electrical and control systems to ensure equipment reliability.
• Minimise plant downtime by identifying, diagnosing, and resolving electrical faults efficiently and safely.
• Inspect, service, and maintain motors, drives, PLCs, panels, sensors, and other electrical equipment.
• Support condition monitoring activities including thermography, insulation resistance testing, and vibration analysis.
• Assist with electrical installation, testing, and inspection work in line with BS7671 (current IET Wiring Regulations).
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, reduce downtime, and support production efficiency.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance work, inspections, and improvements within the CMMS.
• Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and the shift maintenance teams to deliver process improvements.
• Provide holiday and sickness cover for the shift team when required.
• Adhere to all relevant safety procedures including LOTOTO, PPE, and site H&S standards.
We're Looking For
• Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 minimum with 18th Edition (IET Wiring Regulations).
• Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with motors, drives, PLCs, control panels, and industrial electrical systems.
• Good understanding of TPM/PPM systems and CMMS use.
• Strong awareness of electrical and site safety procedures (LOTO, H&S, PPE).
• Effective teamwork and communication skills.
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques (e.g., thermography, vibration, insulation testing) desirable.
• Experience in continuous improvement, reliability projects, or equipment modifications preferable.
• Multi-skilled capability advantageous but not essential.
• IT literate (Word, Excel, CMMS experience beneficial).
• Experience in heavy manufacturing industries desirable but not required.
