  • About The Role

  • Reporting to the Production Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the Newhaven site, as the site progresses to higher levels of sales and production. You will be expected to organise and assist managing all site operations inclusive of train loading, ship unloading, material processing, movements and any associated repairs.
     
    About Your Role
    • Supervise and coordinate production, shipping and material handling to maximise efficiency whilst ensuring we maintain a high standard of Health, Safety and Environmental control – In line with Legislation, Company Policy and Procedure requirements
    • Assist Production Manager with the management of the site to maintain good stock levels of quality material to allow us to service our customer needs – In line with Legislation as well as Company Policy and Procedure requirements
    • To take responsibility for the site when the manager is not available – In line with Legislation as well as Company Policy and Procedure requirements
    • Supervise contractors and agency workers as required – In line with Legislation as well as Company Policy and Procedure requirements
    • Manage important paperwork and electronic records for the site as per QHEST requirements – In line with company policy and procedures
    • Deal with and report accidents/incidents and any unsafe practice to the Production Manager without delay. Report Near Misses and encourage others to do so
    • Ensure site is operated in line with all applicable licenses and permissions – In line with Legislation as well as Company Policy and Procedure requirements
    • Ensure site is kept clean and tidy including roads, stockpiles, site buildings, weighbridge, storage areas and site entrance. 
    • Assist Production Manager with the management of autonomous and preventative maintenance regimes including the supervision and carrying out of maintenance activities – In line with Legislation and Company Policy and Requirements
    • Be a key point of contact with customers using Brett sites and to work to maintain and develop our customers relationships
    • Inform Production Manager of any significant material changes or contamination issues with incoming or produced materials.
    • Be flexible and work as required to meet demands of the site. This includes working outside of normal hours and working in a flexible manner to cover other roles at the site
    • To comply with all company rules and procedures and enforce these with direct reports, contractors and visitors.
    • Encourage and share best practise with all colleagues and Production Manager
    • Manage, organise and position of trains to optimise loading capabilities and ensure any paperwork for the train is prepared for its departure in a timely manner
    We're Looking For
    • Good SHE Leadership qualities and good knowledge of requirements of Health and Safety legislation & Quarry Regulations 
    • Good understanding of customer’s needs (Technical and Service)
    • Good understanding of Marine operations, BAD and Shipping
    • Good Understanding of Rail and Wagon operations
    • Control of Employees and Contractors
    • Good standards of English and Maths.
    • Good IT skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Excellent organisational skills, able to organise own and others time effectively.
    • Good problem-solving skills.
