  • About The Role

  • An opportunity has arisen to join the operational team at Brett Aggregates in Newhaven. Reporting to the Wharf Manager, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of the wharf. You will operate both mobile and fixed plant to process marine‑dredged aggregates into high‑quality, sellable products, while delivering an excellent service to our customers.  This is a varied, hands‑on role where teamwork, safety and customer care are central to everything you do.
     
    About Your Role
    • Operating mobile plant including wheeled loading shovels, articulated dumpers and mini diggers safely and efficiently
    • Operating fixed processing plant in line with site procedures
    • Carrying out routine safety checks, inspections and basic maintenance on mobile and fixed plant
    • Reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses immediately
    • Ensuring good housekeeping standards are maintained, including tidy stockpiles and work areas
    • Working closely with colleagues to comply with SHEQ procedures
    • Supporting customers collecting material and helping make their visit as smooth and efficient as possible
    • Assisting with general site activities, improvements and ideas to help develop the wharf
    • Undertaking additional duties such as weighbridge cover, sampling and general maintenance as required
    We're Looking For
    • A licence to operate a loading shovel (or be working towards this), ideally with or working towards an NVQ Level 2
    • Experience of, or an understanding of, aggregates processing – particularly within a marine or wharf environment
    • Good mechanical understanding of both fixed and mobile plant
    • The ability to work well as part of a small operational team
    • Strong communication skills and a professional manner
    • Flexibility with working hours to suit operational requirements
    • Good problem‑solving skills and a willingness to contribute ideas and solutions
    • A positive, customer‑focused attitude
    • Training will be provided where required for the right candidate.
